Today the site covers more than 70 acres of woodland, grassland, wetland and water habitats. A circular gravel path of nearly two miles surrounds The Reservoir and there is also a trim track for fitness training. The site is best known for its birdlife, but it is a valuable city site for bats. Water based activities include fishing, wind surfing, sailing, rowing, canoeing and The Reservoir also provides a base for Training Ship Vernon Sea Cadet unit.
The Ranger Service incorporates both the City Centre and Edgbaston Reservoir.
